History of Philippine Films
- It began with the introduction of the first moving pictures to the country on January 1, 1897 at the Salon de Pertierra in Manila.
- During the 1930s, the film genre was being discovered as a news medium of art, the scripts and characteristics were influenced by popular theater and familiar local literature. With the emergence of artistic and more mature films as well as a major improvement in the cinematic techniques among filmmakers during the 1950s, came the so-called golden age of the Philippine cinema.
